Gahh! It’s been too long- I’m still hard at work on learning how to edit the TSY videos, but decided the blog must go on in the meantime. Last Friday, I had a chance to see the one and only Lee Fields in concert. The whole show was amazing, but this opening act had me in awe! His name escapes me, so if you know, please send me a line! I’ve decided to pause for a second to figure out where I want to take TSY, not just as a blahg but more. After some goal searching, I have some great ideas- they just need to be ironed out! Today I spent, wait for it, 9 HOURS at the hair salon! Serves my right for wanting a weave with no appointment. In any case it was well worth the wait. During that time, I got the ‘hood gossip, learned some things about men, and listened to some sexy dancehall riddims. But best of all I left with shiny, bouncy hair. Above is a photo of the finished product which I call Soccer-mom-meets-In-Living-Color Fly-Girl-Don’t-Ask-Questions. Shouts out to my amazing MVP of a hairdresser Annette, who maybe sat twice from 9am to 10pm when I left. To anyone who can turn my tumbleweave DON’T into DO…… TASHA SAY YEAH!!
So here’s a little tale about my Friday night. It began innocently enough as a catch-up date with Rachel (aka freshman year roommate aka wife) at Epistrophy, a lovely Italian restaurant with a dish called burrata that will change your life.
Anyway, after dinner Rach and I were strolling down the street, when we notice a full on tanz-party explosion happening in a storefront. Posted on the door was a sign that said something like “Fuck Fashion Week” and inside these people were getting DOWN.
No sooner did I notice the sign, one reveler ushered us in, and next thing you know Rachel and I are taking shots of Patron and dancing and singing our lungs out to Queen with this group of awesome strangers!
